Since 1992, a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organizations to highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness, education and research known as “Pink October” has helped raise the awareness of life saving cancer screenings and early treatments.
On October 8th, Lotus Pharmaceutical partnered with Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital, this year’s champion in terms of lives saved from breast cancer in Taiwan, for a Pink October event where 3 hospitals within the KMUH system and the largest breast cancer patient group in southern Taiwan joined. Chief physician Ming Feng Ho, Vice Chief physician Fang Ming Chen, and 8 other breast surgery doctors, along with 60 patients enjoyed an afternoon of pink floral arrangement. Representatives of the patients thanked the breast surgery team for their dedication to the quality of life of the patients and Chief physician Ho also paid tribute to the patients’ courage in fighting cancer.
Upon receiving the thank you cards from his patients, Chief physician Ho said,
Statistics from Ministry of Health and Welfare showed that breast cancer ranked number 4 in terms of 10 leading causes of death related to cancer in Taiwan for female last year, and we saw the same level of concern as our 6,693 breast screening cases displayed a 99 confirmed cases in 2018. However, we believe that we have what it takes to treat breast cancer and we have saved many lives over the years. It is KMUH’s top priority to be the first line safe-guard for breast cancer patients.
Lotus supported Ho’s view and said that a professional breast surgery team, affordable medicine, and a strong support group form the golden triangle for breast cancer patients.
